Weekend Recap

The anti-hodge bonanza was hodger-riffic! It was so great to meet everyone in person! Although according to everyone, I'm just waaay too shy and I need to come out of my shell a little. Ha ha ha, I kid, I kid - I was the loud one, duh! I believe Ry Ry said he likes me better online!

It was a jam packed weekend. I met Ryan, Jenny, Jon, Dawn, Wullie, Veronica, Mel early Friday afternoon. It started pouring so we all hung out in the hotel bar for a while - the lightening even broke a window at the hotel, scary huh? Then we wandered and found some random-ass Irish pub for lunch, where we were greeted by what at first we thought was just a gay man with terrible braces AND a lip ring who offered us some "Tasty Drinks" (you need to say it in a gay lisp too!) and then some people started to think he actually had a hint of Irish accent - it was quite the game to determine it - we think he was just gay-tastic.

After that ummm... wow, I already forget! Oh I think we just did a bunch of city wandering (and sweating "like whores") and then came back and got ready for dinner at Anthony's on Pier 4 - it was a fancy-ish seafood restaurant. There were quite a few of us and we even got our waiter to sing happy birthday to Wullie - his one year was a few days ago :) After dinner, I headed back to my apartment because my mom was staying the night so she could come on the Duck Tour with us. The next morning everyone else went out to breakfast together as me and Annie (aka Mom) packed up and headed to check into the hotel and meet up with everyone. At the Duck Tour I made sure everyone got duck kazoos which was quite the obnoxious scene! Jon created the best kazoo sounds this side of the Mississippi!

After the tour people went and wandered in different directions - some went to Harvard Square and some went to Faneuil Hall and grabbed a snack and headed back to the hotel to change and get snazzed up for dinner. I even wore a dress - which later turned out to be probably a bit too slutty for public consumption - but Annie had convinced me to wear it! Let's just say everyone knows what my bra looked like! I also got sang to by a hobo who basically eye raped me... ha ha!

Dinner was great, there were lots of pictures taken (just not on my camera, stay tuned for Ry Ry's). We hit up a bar next door afterwards and stayed for a few hours - some stayed basically until close! All had fun though! I keep kicking myself for not finding a kareoke bar to bring us to! Ugh! After that, we went to meet Skye and raid Tianna's mini bar - she moved everything in it and got automatically charged for everything in it so she figured everyone needed to consume it - it was SUPER hilllllarious!

Brunch the next day was brunch-tastic. All of us catching up on things we missed the night before. After brunch Annie and I checked out of the hotel and brought Veronica and Wullie to my apartment to pick up all the food for Sherill's BBQ and then headed up to Salem. After that, Veronica, Wullie, Ryan, Jenny, Bonnie, Susan, and myself went to this cute little restaurant in Beacon Hill and then met up with Jon and Dawn at the hotel for a drink.... basically that was the weekend... a VERY long funtastic weekend :)

I also slept all day today since the whole weekend I was fighting a sinus infection so I'm super rundown. Veronica and Wullie are here until Thursday and then I head to Block Island until the 13th! I can't wait!!!!

That's all for now, stay tuned for more soon.

BeerBQ

I just got back from a BeerBQ last night at Ashley's apartment. Her apartment is right in the heart of the North End and has an amazing roof deck. We packed probably 30-40 people on it, I think technically only 8 people are allowed up at a time - whoops! But such a blast, great view, lots of beer, and people.

I ended up and slept over my pal Kaileen's house. I was planning on being a lame-o and going home by 10pm, and then I got there and had so much fun that I decided to stay out all night! I think sometimes my anxiety gets the best of me, I thought I was going to feel super out of place, but really I didn't at all. Michele's friends from Texas were also in town and then all of Ashley's friends were super nice as well. I've decided I need to hunt for southern men here, chivalry is what I need and I secretly -- Okay it's not a secret -- heart southern accents.

Oh and I also met another man with Kelly for a last name... and you know how that goes... I told him flat out that he gained about 3 cool points just for his last name... ya know, so we can get married and I can be Kelly Kelly! ha ha I'm such a weirdo! But we're sooo not getting married but maybe he's got some brothers or something! I also got hit on a bit last night, which was a good ego boost, especially after the downfalls of Date Guy.
So yeah, that's my night, I wanted to share :)

Date Guy's Demise

Sooo you're probably wondering hmmm what ever happened to Date Guy, the man that was never really known as anything else to my friends... well he's out of the picture. I realized not only was he lame on the passion department, but he also just got increasing lazy and moody, which eventually rubbed off on me as well. I don't deal well with people in bad moods, or people obsessed with their jobs yada yada. I need someone happy with life and willing to have fun. The last straw was that since he works in the cancer industry, he clearly understands how much of a big deal my PET scans are to me, and yet, when my scans happened, the day came and went and when we finally did talk, he just talked about himself! No asking how they went, no nothing! So alas, the downfall of Date Guy. I feel like typing it makes it much more official so that's part of my thought process for writing it... plus he doesn't read my blog, never even took to time to look... hence laziness.

Sooo this broad is back to the drawing board. I've since broken up with Match.com, I decided the only men that I find on there showing interest look like they live in their parents basements playing dungeons and dragons all day long... and umm no thanks creepers. PLUS the same guys over and over would "wink" at me, even though I had repeatedly told them I'm not interested ... so basically, it just got really creepy like they might be sitting out my window! Maybe I'll take another stab at it another day, but until then I'll be doing the dating thing old school style - aka I probably won't be meeting anyone, ha ha!

I'm really looking forward to the Anti Hodge Bonanza next weekend - I can't believe it's so close now! I'm also looking forward to my 2-week vacation !!! I'm in dire need of some R&R lately. I'm not getting quality sleep these days and am waking up exhausted. I'm hoping to get some good sleep this weekend, if only you could really catch up! Next week I should also be doing some personal training after work which will be good since I'm sooooo out of shape! I'm going to try and go to the gym at my apartment this weekend since I thought I'd be able to schedule trainer stuff this week but it didn't work out - lame!
Anywho, I thought I would share the latest and greatest going on with me. I'm open to Boston-y stuff to do with everyone if anyone has suggestions.

I Heart Rainy Days

What a nice rainy day today. After work I went and joined a gym - well a pseudo gym. It's kinda a personal training place where you work out in groups of up to 3 people. I also signed up for some 1-on-1 sessions... and dropped a bunch of money, but I'm finally using my work health benefit :) And hopefully I'll start to get my ass in shape. After I got back from the gym stuff I've been doing laundry, ahhh clean sheets!! I can't wait! Very nice and low key night.

I've been so exhausted lately, hopefully this gym business will help with my energy lull. I went and visited my parents this weekend and all I wanted to do was sleep. I had to get my brakes fixed on my car because one of them was all screwed up - and bringing it to get fixed near them is still cheaper than finding some random dude here. We also went to a little family party for my cousin's birthday on Saturday and then me and Annie did some shopping, washed the pup and took dad out to dinner for father's day. Busy, yet super low-key weekend. And the awesome thing was that my brother wasn't anywhere near their house... long story, but at least I didn't have to deal with that! Oh and of course my dog greeted me with his Easter Lamb when I got home Friday night -- such a well trained pup!

I also got some bad news this weekend. My great uncle Donald found out that he has advanced lung cancer. We don't know much more than that, but I'm hoping there's something they can do to help him. Here he is this past fall with my Yak.

Anywho, please think good thoughts for uncle Donald.
I hope you're all well. Only 2 more weeks until the anti hodge bonanza.

Hodge-versary? Chemo-versary?

Soooo I just thought I would post a little today. I forgot to tell you all that my scan yesterday was technically my 1-year scan. I officially ended chemo on June 14, 2007 -- but June 9th is close enough! :) And besides, it's a good early Father's Day present for my dad!

After my onc appointment yesterday my dad took me to the eye doctors so I can get a better prescription for glasses. You should have seen my pupils, my eyes were fucked! Then we went to my fave restaurant for dinner and Nicole (smelly pizza / leg warmers) met us to help celebrate! It was delicious and funtastic.

I'm officially going to put myself in fat camp this week -- or just actually join a gym. I've actually gained a few pounds since my last scan, and that's just silly. I think it's the working full time thing and not getting as much sleep and eating crappy, you know the usual :) Soon enough I'll be old me, I swear!

Anywho, that's all for now, just wanted to let ya'll know about my 1 year hodge-versary.

Hope you're all well. Anti hodge bonanza is June 28th -- 18 days away!!!!!!

XO!

Scans Tomorrow

My scans are scheduled for 11am tomorrow. Think clean, cancer free thoughts between 11 and 2:30 tomorrow. The good thing about my visit is that I get my results after lunch, so there's less stress and waiting... thank goodness.

Anywho, I'm enjoying season 3 of Weeds before bed and relaxing before tomorrow...

Stay tuned for scan updates.

Nightmares...

This week I've been keeping super busy and got to hang out with Pat on an actual weekday because he was working normal hours on Thursday! We had a funtastic night of fun, including finally testing out the Mario Kart game that my mom bought us -- we even played against some of his work friends with the Wii via the Internet -- yep, that's right Wullster, we should play against each other sometime soon!!!!!!

So me and Pat were just catching up on the usual stuff, and then he starts telling me the most fucked up story I've heard in quite a while. He starts by just saying that it was about a guy he grew up with - and I kept saying "do I know him???" and he said no no blah blah blah, then he finally told me the guys name, who just happens to be a guy I grew up with and went to school with for years! I can't remember if we went to elementary school together, but we definitely went to middle school together... and I had a mini crush on him for like a day... sooo anywho, backstory over, now onto the most fucked up story I've heard in quite a while....

Soooo Pat tells me that this guy we both know named Matt White is dead. He's my age-ish, I think he stayed back a grade or something because he's (was) 27... How did this happen you ask? Well he went on a rampage, and in broad daylight at a restaurant in Florida, he dragged his exgirlfriend who was a waitress out of the restaurant she worked at and shot her several times, then had a high speed chase with the police, and then shot himself in the head and later died. Here's the original article that Pat and I found last night, it literally gave me chills and a few nightmares... the article includes a picture of him - most likely a previous arrest photo, but it has been burned into my brain and I can't rid it. This guy basically grew up like me, in a similar area of Springfield, and yet clearly led a totally different life at some point. His mom would even chaperon our school trips when we were younger! His poor mom. What an awful story... and I'm sorry I'm sharing it, but my theory is, if I write it, maybe it'll escape me.

Now that I've gotten this typed out, I'm going to stop writing, but I'll probably post more tomorrow or Sunday since I've been blog slacking.

PS, please make sure to think clean scan thoughts on Monday between 11 and 3pm as I have my 4-month scans - hence me being super busy this week/weekend :)

I hope you all don't have any nightmares like me...

Pup Sitting

I've been in Longmeadow this weekend taking care of my pup while my parents are visiting my cousin Roland in Montreal. The poor pup has been stressed out with them not here, he just finally ate and drank and it's Sunday morning! Poor little lamb!

It probably didn't help that my brother kept being creepy and sitting in our driveway and stuff - he's not allowed here while I'm dog sitting, that was the deal -- and he knew weeks in advance! I wish he woud just take care of himself and leave me and my parents alone for a while. My poor mom gets the grunt of it having to deal with him constantly calling her and telling her lies. Ugh. My poor parents and their stress level. Like me having cancer last year wasn't enough - sheesh!

Speaking of cancer, my scans totally jumped up on me, they're next Monday June 9th. If/When those scans are clean, I move onto the 6 month plan! Yay! I'm again, starting to feel weird lumpy spots, but most likely it's just my mind playing tricks on me since it's scan time.

The anti hodge bonanza is getting very close! It's less than a month away now! It's getting really tough to coordinate it all when I'm super busy to begin with - I can't wait until everything is done and official. I haven't had time to call the duck tour folks with the new number of people - mostly, because I haven't had time to go thru the board and determine the official number of people.

I have a project for all my chemopalooza readers... in efforts to finally finish decorating my apartment (I know, I know!) I'm requesting that people send me any really cool pictures they may have - I'm looking for bright colors, flowers, skies, clouds, beach, etc... ya know happy stuff! You can send them to my gmail address which is kelly.kane -- seriously, I'm hoping ya'll have some thing for me to print out and hang on on of my barren walls :) I also need to go thru my own pictures and see what I can print, but still sometimes other people's stuff is cooler! So send along!!!

That's all for now, back to pup siting! :)

XO!
